The Tempest | Live, Interactive & In your living room
11 April – 10 May 2020
Digital Theatre | Live online
Adapted from previous year’s performance around Oxford’s Osney Mead Industrial Estate, The Tempest LIVE conjured up a storm across the globe during the initial stages of Covid-19’s lockdown in this co-production with Northern Ireland’s Big Telly Theatre Company.
Bridging 1,500 households from 30 different countries, we were able to virtually reunite family members, friends in other cities or countries, and those who yearned to be in a theatrical atmosphere. With mentions from Time Out New York, The Guardian and recommended by The New York Times, audiences were able to temporarily swap our current world for one filled with magic, sprites and storms.
The University of Exeter created ‘Digital Theatre Transformation: A case study and toolkit’ about the show, read it on our publications page.
“It’s such a joy to enjoy the show together. And that feeling of clapping together, while apart, at the end of the show? The stuff that dreams are made on.” **** The Guardian
“A huge ‘high-five’ to Creation Theatre and Big Telly Theatre Company for taking on the challenge of at-home theatre, and for making it so much fun for all the family.” **** North West End
“Easily as much fun as going to the theatre, if not more” Daily Info
“A radically abridged but joyously chaotic hour of fun and mayhem” OXINABOX
“This show, made in only two weeks, is a game-changer.” Newbury today
“Turns out there IS a way to make a collective live experience of Shakespearean scope” Vanessa Thorpe (The Observer)
