Half-Term Workshops in Oxford

This Autumn we have a programme of one day masterclasses and workshops – young people can join us for a single day or the full weeks.  There are two age groups: 7-11 years (primary) and 11-16 years (secondary). Workshops take place at Wolvercote Primary School, OX2 8AQ.

One-day Workshops and Masterclasses for ages 7-11 and 11-16

Monday 26th October:

 

Making Comic Books and Storytelling (ages 7-13) – This Making Comic Books and Storytelling workshop gives kids ages 7–13 the ultimate creative toolkit. From epic character creation and world-building to story mapping, writing, and illustrating, participants will bring their wildest ideas to life on the page. No prior drawing experience needed—just a massive imagination! 

 

Stage Combat (ages 14-18) – Ever wondered how they stage those epic fight scenes in film and theatre?  This is your chance to find out! In our Stage Combat Masterclass, you’ll learn the secrets of safe, thrilling, and believable stage combat. Please note this workshop is for ages 14+ only and runs from 11am-3pm. 

 

Tuesday 27th October

 

Make Alice in Wonderland in Day! (ages 7-11) – In this fun, creative workshop, you’ll bring the magical world of Alice in Wonderland to life! You’ll create a script, whimsical characters, and even perform your play to friends and family at the end of the day! 

 

Puppets and Puppetry (ages 11-16) – A playful, practical masterclass where you’ll explore the magic of puppetry – from making and designing to the core skills of bringing a puppet to life! 

 

Wednesday 28th October

 

Stop Motion Animation (ages 7-11) – Have you ever wondered how your favourite animated characters are brought to life? Join our one-day workshop and discover the captivating craft of stop-motion animation. You’ll learn to develop characters, build models, and tell your own stories frame by frame. It’s a detailed and meticulous process, but when you hit ‘play’ you can watch as the magic of animation brings your story to life! 

 

Costume and Set Design (ages 11-16) – A hands on, creative masterclass where you’ll learn how costume and set design can help bring a show to life.

 

Thursday 29th October

 

Giggle Club (ages 7-11) – Through a mix of slapstick, silly sketches, and improv games, participants will discover how to use their voices, faces, and bodies to create comedy. It’s a fantastic way for young performers to build confidence and learn the “rules” of funny. Whether they are natural-born clowns or a bit shy, everyone will find their funny bone in this supportive, fast-paced workshop. 

 

Stop Motion Animation (ages 11-16) – Elevate your filmmaking skills in this intensive Stop-Motion Production masterclass. Throughout the day we’ll create multiple short films using a variety of materials—from traditional claymation to textured paper-cut and Lego animation.

 

Friday 30th October

 

Make a Spooky Play in a Day (ages 7-11) – Join us for a hauntingly fun workshop where we’ll take on a classic creepy tale! Spend the day developing your characters and rehearsing your play, The day ends with a spectacular afternoon performance for family and friends. 

 

Make a Scary Film in a Day (ages 11-16) – You’ll take the lead, choosing a chilling classic story to reimagine and adapt for the screen. Spend the day mastering eerie storyboarding and suspenseful script development before moving into production to shoot your own scary short film by the end of the session!
