Dracula at the London Library

2 February – 9 March 2019

The London Library

Dracula returned to the venue where he was created….

Having seen our production the previous year in Blackwell’s The London Library were inspired to do two things. Firstly to invite us to perform in their Reading Room, and secondly to check out their archives for evidence of member Bram Stoker. What they found was a treasure trove of annotations in their books made by the man himself. What we created together was a wonderfully atmospheric adaptation of Stoker’s classic novel, staged in the wood-panelled, book-lined splendour of the Reading Room.

“Creation Theatre’s Dracula is a sensuous, sinister affair that benefits greatly from the gorgeously atmospheric Reading Room of the London Library that serves as its stage.”  Theatre Weekly

“Sophie Greenham gives a cover-the-waterfront performance as Mina/Lucy/Dr Seward, by turns knowing and postmodern, flirtatious, or cut glass Home Counties asperity with an undercurrent of self-doubt…. Does the venue make the play or the play make the venue? They seem so intimately intertwined that it’s difficult to tell how it would work somewhere else, but tonight in the atmospheric London Library reading room, it was love at first bite.”  Londonist.com
