Friar Lawrence's Confessional
April & October 2022
Digital Theatre | Live online
“You can’t marry the daughter of your mortal enemy! It just isn’t the done thing.”
Friar Lawrence’s online confessional is a hit! Lady Macbeth and Boris Johnson are both regulars; even Titus Andronicus has been known to pop in. Unfortunately, the friar himself is being harassed by a randy nurse, his business is failing and he’s run out of space for Amazon parcels. And maybe he shouldn’t have become so involved in Romeo’s ridiculous love life.
In spring and autumn 2022 we presented the next instalment from the creators of Lear’s Daughters and Horatio! and Hamlet. Audiences got up close and personal with some of Shakespeare’s best known characters, from the comfort of their sofa in this hilarious black comedy about one man trying to cope, as events spiral way out of his control.
“Osmond has removed the bleak brutality and violence inherent in King Lear, creating an unexpectedly amusing feelgood, escapist lockdown drama instead.” Newbury Weekly News on Lear’s Daughters
