In 2021, Creation brought John Webster’s classic of glamour and gore to life online. This new Digital Theatre adaptation of The Duchess of Malfi was presented by Creation’s Digital Rep Company in collaboration with TORCH at the University of Oxford.
Exposing how easily love can slip into madness, The Duchess of Malfi offered a delicious nightmare which played with the boundaries of life and death, until there is no certainty about what is real. Live performers and audience may have been separated in space but were connected online as participants, voyeurs and witnesses.
This production was directed by Laura Wright and Natasha Rickman. It was also accompanied by learning resources for school and university students, many of whom find The Duchess of Malfi on their syllabuses.
