Treasure Island

Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 classic is brought to life with theatrical magic on the beautiful South Lawn of Wycliffe Hall.

Jim has three visitors and life is never the same again. This journey of discovery and betrayal is re-imagined in an inventive theatrical adaptation by Gari Jones, whose ‘Christmas Carol’ for Creation delighted audiences last Christmas at the North Wall.

Whilst retaining the narrative of Stevenson’s classic, with depth, integrity, a dash of thriller and a large amount of silliness, Gari Jones’ adaptation zips along like a wacky race brimming with pirate speak, off-the-wall characters and a whole heap of sea shanties. Treasure Island will be performed on the beautiful lawn in front of Wycliffe Hall, as well as on tour in Oxfordshire and beyond. Suitable for all ages.

We’re taking ‘Treasure Island’ on the road! We’ll be visiting beautiful locations within Oxfordshire and beyond. All of our tour venues are ‘bring your own seating’, so bring along a picnic blanket or chairs, and enjoy the magic of outdoor theatre.

There will be a captioned BSL show on the 15th August at 7pm – everyone welcome.

Please note – a Picnic Blanket ticket option is up to 4 people i.e. 2 adults and 2 children or similar combination. It may be a squeeze for 4 adults.

FAQs

How many people can sit on a picnic blanket?
The blankets are standard size and could fit 2 adults and 2 young children on at the most.

Is there parking?
See Touring Venues for their parking info.

For Wycliffe Hall – There are a limited number of parking spaces that we have reserved for blue badge holders and disabled audience members; please fill in this form to reserve a car parking spot.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
For Wycliffe Hall – Yes; we are performing on the lawn in front of Wycliffe Hall, which is on a flat level from the car park. The car park has gravel and there is a short distance of grass to access the tent.

If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact Box Office and we can help you. Our friendly Front of House team are also available for support on the day of the performance.

What happens if it rains?
For Wycliffe Hall – Don’t worry, we’re prepared for the Great British Weather! The performance takes place under cover, within Creation’s summer tent. Please be aware that the performance is still outside, so make sure to wrap up warm if the weather is a bit cooler. We will have rugs and blankets available at FOH.

For touring venues – the performance will take place outside so please bring waterproofs if it looks like rain. Sadly, we can’t use umbrellas due to restricting views.

Can I bring a picnic?
Absolutely!

At Wycliffe Hall, the lawn will be open an hour before the show if you’d like to arrive early. There are also picnic blanket tickets available to book.

What is the running time?
The expected run time is 120 minutes, including an interval.

What is the age limit?
This production is suitable for all ages.
