The Modern Love Poem
Love Poems in the Forest of Arden!

Our production of As you Like It has been running all summer at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford.
As you may know, As You Like Itis a play about love and its languages; Orlando expresses his love for Rosalind by hanging poems addressed to her on the trees in the Forest of Arden. (He’s not always spot on with his rhymes!)
So we have been decking the trees at Wycliffe Hall with love poems – from Shakespeare’s sonnets to contemporary writing – creating our very own forest of love poetry.
We requested poems from our lovely audience and local community and you have responded brilliantly. Below is a photo gallery of all the poems we have received. The As You Like It team have had great fun reading them, hanging them on trees and posing with them! Thank you all so much!
If any of you lovely poets and spoken word artists would like to perform your love (and other) poems locally, there is a spokenword open mic event at Bunkfest on the 31st August 2024. Please get into contact with Sian at Creation for more information.
