Tribute to Jeanne Wesson – Former Chair of Creation Theatre

Jeanne Wesson, who passed away recently, was a previous Chair of Trustees of Creation Theatre. Jeanne was a wonderful person – no nonsense in her approach to things, but simultaneously deeply compassionate, caring and kind. She led the Creation board with a sense of purpose and pride, she felt keenly that Creation was an Oxford institution of which Oxford should be proud, a theatre company which mattered to – and cared about – local communities. She frequently championed the fact that part of Creation’s mission was to help other causes and charities, and she was a keen proponent of the ‘bucket-rattling’ which occurred after shows had ended.

We should acknowledge too, her calm and expert piloting of Creation through a number of difficult financial times in our life. All who knew Jeanne were in no doubt as to her thoughtful, principled and fun-loving character and she will be greatly missed. Her husband John died only a few months ago – Jeanne and John were married for sixty years.
