Meet the team: Herb Cuanalo, Rep Actor

This week we’re catching up with Herb Cuanalo, Rep actor extraordinaire, fashion icon and such a bona-fide Oxford local that he once broke his arm at SOAP (our summer venue) as a kid.

What was the first Creation production you were involved with, and what’s your favourite memory of it?

Herb in The Signalman
The Signalman, well I would have to say getting into Wesley Memorial Church for the first time. It was very exciting seeing how we were going to incorporate such a great space. Oh and the sound design, very spooky!

When did you first decide you wanted to be an actor? What was your journey into professional theatre?

I think it was when I started doing more and more plays mostly with societies that do it recreationally and before that at school. Then I went to drama school and got an agent at showcase. I pride myself on versatility so have enjoyed what I’ve had to do so far. The journey is ongoing.

The Rep Company

What does it mean to be part of a rep company?

It means the world to me, such a fantastic opportunity whilst having security. As an artist its a dream.

Whereabouts in Oxfordshire do you live now? What’s your favourite thing about the place?

I live in Cutteslowe currently but moving soon within Oxford. It has to be how it looks in the summer, get yourself on a punt and you’re halfway to a lifetime memory!

What are you playing in Much Ado About Nothing this summer?

I’m playing Claudio & Borachio
Herb in Much Ado
